AKC Novice Guaranteed

Okay, so do you want the good news first or the bad news?  Let’s start with the good news…….The good news is through obedience training you can teach your dog the exercises necessary to earn a qualifying leg in any AKC novice obedience ring and resolve 95% of  the problems you’re having with your dog.

Why AKC novice exercises when all you want is to teach your dog  ______(fill in with annoying behavior)______?  Well, spot training (no pun intended) to lose the saddle bags on the thighs doesn’t work in weight loss, and it doesn’t work in dog training either.  You have to follow a program, do what’s asked of you, stay committed, and the results will happen.  Same thing happens in dog training.

You have to change bad habits, teach new ones, and reward good behaviors, or suffer the consequences.  Sounds tough, huh……now the bad news….. not everyone has what it takes to get it done.

The AKC novice routine consists of heeling on leash, right turns, left turns, about turns, all while your dog is maintain perfect heel position at your left side.  When you come to a halt your dog sits automatically, without your saying a word.  He does this by paying attention to you, and the concentration it takes for him to maintain his position builds his character.  He will do this on leash, off leash, and amidst distractions after ten weeks.  Never again will you have a dog who will pull you on leash, or run through the door ahead of you, or take off when you drop the leash.

He will also come when called from a distance, OFF LEASH, to a place in front of you, where he remains focused waiting on the next command.  Never again will you have a dog who plays the darting game when you call them, you know the one… they get close enough for you to you grab and take off as soon as you reach for them!

Your dog will also learn the sit, down, sit/stay, and down/stay.  He will learn he must maintain this position until you return to him, and release him from his responsibility.  Oh, yes…a dog becomes responsible for his work!  You will subject your dog to many distractions, instilling in him, a commitment to follow commands and be rewarded, lest he suffer the consequences of his decision to disobey.  Never again will your dog run up to strangers, jump on them, or run and bark at the doorbell with the implementation of the sit/stay or down/stay command beforehand.

The last exercise is the STAND, which teaches your dog to remain focused on his work, while he is being approached, touched, and handled by strangers.  Never again will you fear walking your dog on a crowded sidewalk, or taking him to the groomers, or the veterinarians’ office.

Through Circletop Farm’s training, your dog learns to make choices, think for himself, and in turn, will find his work rewarding.  This builds your dog’s character, hyper dogs settle down, shy dogs find confidence, aggressive dogs aren’t really aggressive, and even ‘bad’ dogs learn good behaviors, making your job as his owner easier.  I don’t know how many times I’ve heard clients tell me “it’s not the same dog”.

GUARANTEED! (Find out what the guarantee consists of when you attend the free orientation).
